Investing In A Better Home

5 Great Reasons To Rent A House

When it comes to living in a home, you basically have two options, which would be to either rent or buy. Buying a home has it's benefits and many people overlook the benefits of renting because of this. Here are five great reasons to consider renting a house instead of buying one:

  1. Flexibility: One of the biggest benefits of finding houses for rent instead of houses for sale is that you will only be stuck living in the house for the lease term before you can easily move out. If you aren't sure that the area is a place you want to settle down in or you move around a lot because of a job, then renting a house is the best option. If you purchase a home and want to move, you are going to have to deal with selling, which can take months longer than you anticipated.
  2. Repair Credit: When it comes to buying a home, you should repair your credit first in order to get the best possible mortgage terms. With poor credit, you can be paying a great deal in interest that is going to make owning a home expensive. If you need some time repairing your credit, you can rent an affordable house temporarily while you pay off creditors.
  3. Save Up a Down Payment: The other reason to consider renting is to save money to make a down payment on a house. Most lenders are going to ask for at least 10% down. Without a down payment, you are looking at higher mortgage payments or taking out another loan to pay for the down payment.
  4. Don't Care for Real Estate: The reason people purchase a home is because of the ideal investment that it provides long-term. However, if you are someone who would rather invest in other financial assets over real estate, then renting may be the best choice for you.
  5. No Risk: Finally, you may just want to opt for renting a house over purchasing one because you just don't want the financial risk. After all, you never know if you are going to be able to sell your home for a higher price in the future than what you purchased it for. Plus, there is also the risk of having to pay for large home damages in the case of a disaster, which you may not be willing to risk either.

There are plenty of reasons to consider renting over purchasing. If you feel that you have a reason to rent over purchase a home, don't worry because you are not alone. For some people, renting is just the better option of the two.

About Me

Investing In A Better Home

Few things are more overwhelming than choosing your first home. I would know, because I purchased my first place about a year ago. When we first moved in, we realized that there were a few things that we were going to need to change. Even though we had carefully looked over the listing and walked through the property, the house was riddled with problems like broken outlets, bad paint jobs, and even broken plumbing fixtures. Fortunately, we learned how to fix things on our own, which has saved us a lot of money. This blog is all about real estate, DIY projects, and the joy of home ownership.
